What is rowing club management software?
Rowing club management software is the system a rowing club uses to run its boats, crews and members in one place: who is out in which shell, who is sitting in which seat, who has paid their subs and who is turning up on Saturday. Any general club platform can hold a member list. Rowing asks for more than that, because a boat is not a bookable room and a crew is not a list of names.

What rowing asks for that generic club software does not do
Any club platform will hold your members and take your subs. These are the parts clubs end up running in a spreadsheet alongside it.
A boat goes out with a crew, not a person
Eight rowers and a cox share one shell. Software that books a boat the way it books a meeting room lets one member reserve it and leaves the other eight to find out on the bank.
Seats are not interchangeable
Bow side and stroke side, sculling and sweep, and a cox who has to be in the boat for it to leave. Moving one rower changes the balance of the whole crew, so a lineup needs to be edited as a lineup.
Every shell has a condition and a history
Riggers, blades, shoes, fins and the damage log. A boat that came back with a cracked fin has to stop being bookable before the next outing, not after someone has already put a crew in it.
The water sets the timetable
Stream conditions, flag status, navigation rules and closures. Outings are called off by the river rather than by the club, and a whole squad needs telling at once.
Safety records decide who can go afloat
Capsize drill, swim competence and permission to steer. These gate who is allowed in which boat, and a committee has to be able to show the records on request.
The season is built around other people's deadlines
Heads and regattas set entry dates, crew declarations and substitutions. Miss a declaration deadline and the crew does not race, however well it has been training.
The season in the United Kingdom
Regattas run from roughly April to August, and the head season runs through autumn and winter.
Two seasons rather than one, which is why a club calendar has to carry both a summer sprint programme and a winter time trial programme.
That matters for the software because a season is not a calendar year. Memberships, subs and duty rotas all run on the club's season rather than on January to December, and a system built around the wrong one makes every renewal a manual job.

What is rowing club management software?
Rowing club management software is the system a rowing club uses to manage boat bookings, crew lineups, training sessions, membership and subscriptions in one place. It replaces the sign-out sheet in the boathouse, the crew spreadsheet and the WhatsApp group that currently hold a club together.
Do we need rowing specific software, or will general club software do?
General club software will hold your members and take your subs. Where it struggles is the rowing part: booking a shell for a whole crew, editing a lineup seat by seat, keeping a damage log against a boat, and gating who is allowed afloat on their safety record. Clubs usually end up running those in a spreadsheet alongside the platform they are already paying for.
Can it handle crew changes on the morning of an outing?
Yes. Lineups are edited seat by seat, and everyone affected sees the change straight away rather than finding out at the boathouse. Swapping one rower does not mean rebuilding the crew.
Does it work for junior squads and school rowing?
Yes. Junior squads bring extra requirements around consent, emergency contacts and who is allowed to take a boat out unsupervised, and those sit on the member record rather than in a separate folder.
