GlideHQ is coming for gliding clubs

GlideHQ is the next app in the HQ family, built for gliding clubs. It is in build now. Register your interest and your club will be first in line when it launches, with a say in what gets built first.

  • Register interest free
  • Founding clubs shape the first version
  • No commitment

What is gliding club management software?

Gliding club management software is the system a gliding club uses to run the flying list, the aircraft and the membership together: who is flying today and in what order, which glider is serviceable, who is instructing, who is driving the winch and who has paid for their launches. It is a harder problem than most club software, because a gliding club cannot start the day until several qualified people have turned up and an aircraft has been signed off.

The list moves all day, and the aircraft has to be signed off

A calendar of half hour slots is the wrong shape for a gliding day. What a club actually has is a queue that reorders itself around weather, check flights and launch failures, sitting on top of aircraft that cannot fly until somebody has signed the daily inspection.

  • Serviceability sits at the top, because an unserviceable glider should never appear as available.
  • The queue is an order that anyone at the launch point can see and move through.
  • Currency is checked before the launch point, not at it.

What gliding asks for that generic club software does not do

Any club platform will hold your members and take your subs. These are the parts clubs end up running in a spreadsheet alongside it.

Nothing flies until the daily inspection is signed

Each aircraft needs a daily inspection recorded before its first launch. Software that treats a glider as a bookable asset misses the one check that legally has to happen first.

The flying list is an order, not a calendar

Members are not booked into slots. They join a list and move up it, and the order shifts all day with weather, launch failures and check flights.

The day needs a full duty crew to happen at all

Duty instructor, winch driver, tug pilot, duty pilot. Missing one of those and the airfield does not open, so the roster has to be filled well ahead and gaps have to be visible early.

Currency and check flights gate who can fly

Time since last flight, annual checks, conversion to type. A member out of currency needs a check flight before going solo, and the system has to know that before they reach the launch point.

Launches are the billing unit

Winch launches, aerotows and soaring time are charged differently and logged per flight, against both the member and the aircraft.

Two launch methods, two sets of rules

Winch and aerotow need different crews, different briefings and different charges. A club running both is effectively running two operations off one airfield.

What GlideHQ will handle

Flying list

Daily flying list and launch order without the whiteboard.

Aircraft register

Club gliders, tugs, and maintenance status in one place.

Duty roster

Instructors, winch drivers, and duty pilots scheduled fairly.

Flight logging

Launches and hours recorded against members and aircraft.

Member portal

One login for bookings, accounts, and club news.

Training records

Progression and sign-offs where instructors can see them.

Moving over without losing a season

The usual reason a committee stays on something that half works is the thought of moving. It is a smaller job than it looks, and you do not have to do it in one go.

What clubs come from

  • The launch point whiteboard
  • A paper flying list and log sheets
  • A spreadsheet the treasurer rebuilds each month
  • Phone calls to fill the duty roster

Most clubs arrive with three or four of these running at once. That is normal.

  1. Send us what you already have

A membership spreadsheet, a CSV export, or the list your treasurer keeps. It does not need tidying up first. Messy is what we expect.

  2. We load it and check it with you

We import members, kit and your season, then sit with one person from the committee to check it looks like your club rather than a demo.

  3. Run both for as long as you want

Nothing forces you to switch everything on day one. Plenty of clubs run the old rota alongside for a few weeks until people trust the new one.

  4. Leave whenever you like

Your data exports in full, at any point, at no charge. A system you cannot walk away from is not one you should sign up to.

Founding clubs help decide what GlideHQ imports on day one. Tell us what you run now and it shapes the build.

Who is behind GlideHQ

There is no published gliding case study yet, and we are not going to invent one. What we can point at is the engine underneath. RowHQ runs Oundle Town Rowing Club day to day, with real members, real money and real race entries going through it.

GlideHQ is a different sport on the same foundation, built by the same people. It is in build, and founding clubs get a direct line to the people writing it.

Questions about gliding club management software

What is gliding club management software?

Gliding club management software is the system a gliding club uses to manage the daily flying list, aircraft serviceability and daily inspections, instructor and winch duty rosters, flight logging and member accounts in one place. It replaces the launch point whiteboard, the paper flight log and the spreadsheet the treasurer uses to bill launches.

When will GlideHQ be available?

GlideHQ is in build now and does not have a public launch date yet. Clubs that register interest get early access and help decide what gets built first.

Will it handle daily inspections and aircraft serviceability?

Yes. Recording the daily inspection before the first launch, and stopping an unserviceable aircraft appearing as available, is one of the requirements shaping the build rather than something added later.

Can it log launches for billing?

Yes. Launches and soaring time are logged against the member and the aircraft, with winch launches and aerotows charged at their own rates, so the treasurer is not rebuilding the month from a paper log.

What does it cost to register interest?

Nothing. Registering interest costs nothing and commits you to nothing. Founding clubs that help shape the build get it cheap or free while we build it together.
