Requirements sit on the role

Each duty carries the credential it needs. A member without that qualification cannot be assigned or volunteer for the position.

Eligible people manage exchanges

Members organise their own swaps within club rules. The roster remains accurate without an administrator sitting between both volunteers.

The allocation can be checked

Everyone sees how often each person has served. Visible duty counts give fairness a clear basis instead of personal impressions.

Prompts arrive without chasing

Upcoming volunteers receive reminders from the system. Committee members no longer spend Saturday night sending individual messages for Sunday.

Vacancies show before the event

The roster highlights empty duties weeks ahead. Officers can recruit qualified cover while the problem is still manageable.

Actual service is recorded

Assigned names and attendance are kept separately. The club reviews what happened rather than assuming the published roster was fulfilled.

Questions

How does an Australian duty roster work?

The club creates every duty for the season, adds any required credentials and allocates volunteers. Members see their dates, receive reminders and arrange eligible swaps. The committee gets an early warning when a critical place remains empty.

Can volunteers make their own swaps?

They can, provided the incoming person meets the role's requirements. The revised assignment is written back to the shared roster. That keeps one correct record and removes routine swap administration from an office bearer.

Does it handle restricted safety roles?

Yes. Qualifications or relevant checks can be required before assignment. Since Working with Children Check arrangements differ by state and territory, the club must define the correct local requirement and keep each member's status current.
