Why SportsHQ exists
Most club software was written for gyms and rebadged for everyone else. It does not know what a duty roster is, or why one double booking takes a whole crew off the water. We went the other way round.
It started with one club and one spreadsheet
RowHQ came first, and not as a product idea. A rowing club we are part of was running on a booking spreadsheet, a set of WhatsApp polls and a paper sign out sheet in the boathouse, and the person holding all of it together was getting tired.
We looked at what was available. Plenty of it was good software. None of it knew that a boat leaves the rack with nine people in it, or that a crew is not a list of names. The club would have paid for a platform and kept the spreadsheet anyway, which is the worst of both.
So we built the thing the club actually needed, inside the club, while the season was running. Oundle Town Rowing Club has run on it since 2025. Sailing clubs asked for the same, so SailHQ followed. Canoe and gliding are in build now.
One sport at a time, built with a club rather than for a market. That is the whole plan and we are not in a hurry to change it.

The last twenty percent is the product
Anyone can hold a member list. What decides whether a club actually uses software is the part specific to the sport, and that part cannot be a settings screen.
Software should be built inside a club
Every HQ app is written while a real club runs a real season on it. Requirements gathered in a meeting produce software that works in a meeting.
Volunteers are not a revenue stream
Free under 20 active members, no cut of your subs, no charge per administrator. Price a volunteer club like a business and it ends up back on a spreadsheet.
You should be able to leave
Full export, any time, no charge. Software that traps you does not have to stay good. We would rather earn it every year.
Where the family is up to
Honestly rather than optimistically. Two are live in clubs, two are being written.

Already running a real club
Oundle Town Rowing Club has run on RowHQ since 2025. A community club founded in 1872, it replaced a booking spreadsheet, WhatsApp polls and email chains with one system.

Who you are actually dealing with
Jason Burns. He writes the software and answers the email, and he is the registered director of HQ SOFTWARE LTD, the company named in the panel beside this.
There is no support tier, no account manager and no call queue. When you write to us, the reply comes from the person who built the thing you are asking about. That cuts both ways, and we would rather say so: you get a straight answer quickly, and you get told when something is not built yet.
